Disarmament and International Security Committee (DISEC)

CHAIR: Tanner McNamara

TOPIC A - Drone Warfare and Terrorism

DISEC envisions a robust framework that mandates meaningful human control over armed drones, harmonizes export-licensing standards, and strengthens transparency through regular reporting of drone capabilities and operations. By convening expert panels and forging a new CCW protocol, the Committee will drive consensus on ethical targeting rules, share best practices for counter-UAV measures, and ensure emerging autonomy technologies enhance security rather than exacerbate risks.

TOPIC B - Arms Proliferation in the Sahel

DISEC’s vision is to galvanize regional cooperation and bolster national controls by spotlighting illicit small-arms flows, endorsing ECOWAS’s moratorium, and mobilizing support for traceability and stockpile management initiatives. Through targeted resolutions and voluntary confidence-building measures, the Committee will facilitate data-driven border-control strategies, fund PSSM expert deployments, and sustain diplomatic momentum to stem weapons proliferation and stabilize Sahel communities.
