Journey to the West

Heaven is uneasy.

The pilgrimage to the West—meant to restore cosmic order through the retrieval of sacred scriptures—has begun, but the world it travels through is no longer stable. Old grievances resurface, forbidden powers stir, and the authority of Heaven is quietly, dangerously contested. What was once a divinely guided journey now threatens to reshape the balance between gods, demons, and mortals.

Sun Wukong walks the road again, bound by discipline yet burdened by memory. Tang Sanzang carries Heaven’s mandate, even as its wisdom is questioned. Demons once thought defeated rule openly, celestial generals debate the limits of obedience, and bodhisattvas intervene with motives that are anything but simple. Every obstacle on the journey is no longer merely a test of virtue—it is a political, spiritual, and ideological crisis.

This committee reimagines Journey to the West as a living struggle for legitimacy and power. Delegates will step into the roles of iconic figures from the novel—gods, bodhisattvas, demon kings, and celestial officials—each with the ability to influence the journey continuously, not just in isolated moments. Decisions made in Heaven ripple across the mortal realm; alliances forged on the road can threaten the Jade Emperor himself.

Will the pilgrimage succeed as intended, reinforcing Heaven’s rule?

Will alternative orders rise in its shadow?

Or will the journey become the catalyst for a new cosmic balance altogether?

The road to the West is open.

What it leads to is no longer predetermined.
