1917 Russian Revolution

CHAIR: Mikhail Perminov

“There are decades where nothing happens; and there are weeks where decades happen.” - Vladimir Ilyich Lenin. As the Russo-Japanese war begins, famines ravage the peasant countryside, factory workers toil under oppressive conditions, and a centuries-old autocratic regime struggles to adapt to the changing tides of politics, war, and industry. In a key window of opportunity, landowners and nobles, power-seeking bureaucrats, and the Russian intelligentsia mobilize, and delegates will similarly step into the shoes of Marxists, monarchists, nationalists, and revolutionaries during a committee of spirited debate. In a tale of hope and despair, blood and steel, but perhaps most of all, political opportunism, delegates will have to rethink and relive the events which would come to shape the 20 th century and be felt all around the world for decades to come.
